6:51p Writer's Block: Love is deaf
*glances at question*
I don't think I need to answer this one, do we, boys and girls? We know exactly what I'm going to say.
The sarky spesh says yes, as only the truly deaf can say yes to such a question...

| Commissions, Personal & Gift Art! |

Commission for Wolfer, taken at FurryCon. |

Gift card illustration drawn at FurryCon; going to go on my gift cards. |

Another gift card illustration, also drawn at FurryCon. |

Gift art for uzza2; just some lineart I drew specifically for him and gave him permission to color. |

Birthday gift for mharreff, of him writing in his journal the way only Sleeth can. |
WARNINGS: m/solo, money shot

Second piece of art for mharreff's birthday gift. The Sleeth... um... practising magic. |
WARNINGS: m/m, frot

Christmas gift for shurhaian and lutrisotter. Intend to color this eventually. |

Marshmallow?
My 2009 Christmas print. An ermine girl mistaking a snowman for a handsome lad and offering him her marshmallow. |

The inks for 2amcoffee's commission. OMG BONES.
| I.C.Q. Extra Material! |
icq_comic is a webcomic project scheduled to launch August 1 2010, drawn by me and co-written by me and shurhaian. I/we will periodically be posting extra material in the LJ community until we reach the launch date. Planned so far are character profiles (posted for the major characters, upcoming for minor characters and possibly the main characters' families), at least one chance at free I.C.Q.-related art, probably a comic short and some other material.
All these pieces are done as ACEOs, on some marker media cards I bought off eBay a good while back. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I do like the colored-line technique they're inked with, tho.
If you enjoy this material, I urge you to go over and join icq_comic to get the most out of what will be posted prior to the comic's launch. |

Title graphic sort of thing; VCL's conversion of the transparent PNG to a JPG file had some interesting side effects which I rather liked the look of. Here is the plain PNG version. |

Pretty Princess and Cat
Toni Squire, one of the main characters, with the cat Mittens. |

Queen of the Highlighter Drinks
Sarah Woolf, the second main character, with a favorite beverage. |

Too Sexy for His Shirt
Blake Masterson, the third and final main character of the comic. I'd hit that. |

Bartender from a bar Toni frequents. He's an albino African wild dog, which amuses me greatly. |

Toni's boss, a pretty motherly (and hefty) chinchilla lady. |
| Sculpture! |

Needle-felted unicorn stallion; my first needle-felting project. He's going to eventually get a family. Done following allykat's excellent online workshop type thing. |

Needle-felted blue-masked longhair cat, modelled after my ragdoll Safir and sent to her breeder as a Christmas greeting. |

Needle-felted horse, modelled after my Arabian/North Swedish Horse cross Albert, for walkertxkitty. WIP; I'm still waiting for the tail material I ordered for him.
| Sketches! |
- Kiru Blackheart
Quick ballpoint pen sketch of Kiru from Tapestries.
- Tea With Dragons
15-minute sketch I did when I had way too much time left over before I could leave after my Translation final, to see how much I could get done in that time.
|
| Writing! |
- Shell Game - An Erigineean Short Story
Inspired by seeing warning signs for con artists up all over Copenhagen. Ale!van Ruby goes undercover during the New Year's festival, is approached by a con man and, well... just who will con who in the end?
- Heart in the Right Place
A misinformed foreigner with his heart in the right place makes an attempt on the king's life, and finds he's bitten off significantly more than he can chew.
- Imperial Slavery
A work in progress. A document talking about the status of slaves in the Western Empire in Erigineeaverse, roughly in avelyon_high continuty. Going for a nonfiction state-of-affairs report kind of feel.
- Would Have Been Superheroes (some labelled NSFW chapters)
My NaNoWriMo novel for 2009. A group of (mostly) young adults with oddball supernatural powers get wrapped up in official Peacekeeper (ie superhero) business and have to make the best of it. Plus lots of interpersonal drama within the group.

On an ending note, I will note that Paladins' Haven is finally updating again, on a new URL. Tell your friends. ^_~

3:05a The year, in retrospect.
I'm off to bed, but just wanted to make my first post for the New Year. I hope it'll be a good year. I am just musing about 2009.
In 2009 I have seen my name in several books, albeit in the acknowledgements alone.
I have had my first professional writing published, with my name as author attached.
I still have the Dragon. It's seven and a half years since we met. This is pretty bloody damn good.
My family remains intact for another year. This is despite the best efforts of Fate (and heavy goods vehicles). Which is pretty bloody damn good, too.
I haven't blogged much. This is bad.
I have died. And come back to life. That was a blog post.
My artwork is appearing in a publication available in newsagents across the country. That's a blog post to be made.
I have stopped biting my nails as much as I did, and am carrying a clippery-filey gadget with me all the time, so that I can clip/file if I feel the urge to nibble. This could be good. It isn't a New Year's resolution. I don't do those.
I had swine flu. Thought it rather overrated.
Work is going well. And will go better in 2010. That's not a New Year's resolution either, it's a statement of intent.
Generally speaking, I suppose it's not been an annus horribilis, though my completely unexpected conk-out in mid-August has to count as a pretty low point.
But on the whole, yes, I think I'm happy. Reasonably settled. It may have taken a day and a few hours to happen, but I think 2010's going to be a decent sort of year.

11:59p Happy New Year, guys.
So... I gather some people get excited about this. I can't remember the last time I was particularly excited though. Is it strange that to me, it's just two minutes away and oh, there we are, it's a new year, er... yay? Alright then.
Anyway. Happy New Year! Here we go, last minute of the year. Gosh. New decade and all that.
Hope it's a good one!

3:44p 2009
So it’s time to make my annual resolution: I resolve to make 2010 a better year than 2009.
This will be the sixth time I’ve made this resolution, and I have yet to break it. It’s tempting to say I fell short this past year, when we spent a third of it bringing in less then enough to cover our expenses, but as hard as the last four months were (and still are; it will be a few weeks before we really stop feeling the pinch), when I think back on 2009 I don’t think of it as the year we ate through our savings because paying rent and bills.
365 days ago our daughter still weighed less than most babies do at birth. She was healthy, but very thin and below the growth chart at every doctor’s visit. Now she looks like a normal toddler. She’ll probably always be a little on the small side, but she has some meat on her bones and looks as healthy as she is.
More than that though, 2009 is the year I watched her go from being an infant who spent her days curled up in my arms because she cried whenever I tried to set her down to a little girl with a very definite personality of her own. She’s curious, adventurous, and social. She loves taking things apart, going after the cats, and showing things to her parents.
2009 had its hardships, but getting to spend it with my daughter, watching her learn and grow, outweighs all of them, and makes me optimistic about the future.

New phones, incredibly sweet gift from my wife, lunch out with the family and a movie with just Meg... It’s been a pretty great day.
(not that I think verizon and fedex collaborated to celebrate five years since my first date with Meg, but it was a nice touch)

So a while ago we sorted through our movies and separated out the ones that we either had multiple copies of or we just were highly unlikely to ever watch again. Before they get sold or donated somewhere, I figured I’d let friends and family have first crack:
( Here's the list )
Comment or send me an email if you’re interested in any of these, and I’ll arrange to get them to you.
